April 28 ~ villages

So many of the devastated Nepali villages are accessible only by foot.

Supplies come to the village by yak-train, like this picture.

If the paths are blocked by landslides or damage to the bridges, there is no way to reach the villages.

The suffering and devastation is enormous.

Aptil 27 ~ Boudanath, Nepal

Boudanath, also called The Giant Stupa, is one of my favourite places in the world.

It is a UNESCO Heritage site, and reportedly,

one of the many Kathmandu sites that was damaged or destroyed in the earthquake.

April 26 ~ Disaster in Nepal

My adopted Nepali family have survived the earth quake, and to their surprise, so has their home.

My heart is heavy for the thousands who are suffering unimaginable loss,

and they are in my thoughts and prayers.

This photo is from 2011 at the home of my dear friend, Damodae Neupane.

Damodar, Peg, Chandana, Dianne, Sanu, Apil.

Apil is a physician in Kathmandu , administering to some of the thousands of injured Nepalis.

The new pedestrian bridge over the Rideau River was barely started,

the last time I saw it in September.

Now it links Strathcona Park, on the west side, with the Rideau Tennis club and bike path,

on the east. It is still under construction though!
