Bill Reid's "The Spirit of Haida Gwaii` is also in The Grand Hall at the museum;

 another impressive work and personal favourite.

December 23 ~ Museum of History

I spent today  at the Museum of History, with Aaron (bottom left corner)

This stunning exhibit hall is one of my favourite places in Ottawa!

We also enjoyed the  'Bob, the Builder!' exhibit.

Kay and Mary, from the Cascades Women's Dragon Boat team, came to visit.

December 17 ~ Skiing with Helen

Helen took a  great 'selfie' on  my first ski of the year.

The forecast was not great,  but the rain held off, and we had an amazing ski!

I was thrilled to be skiing, 5 weeks after surgery.

December 16 ~ Camera Club Winners!

 

 My Camera Club selected both these photos as 'Winners",

under the category, 'Please Be Seated'!

Both were taken at John's new rural home, near Fergus, near Guelph.

Both are at his amazing pond, the top one with Aaron on the dock.

December 15 ~ A little One

This young porcupine was making his way from one tree to another,

leaving tracks almost like small tire tracks!

He was a real cutie!

December 14 ~ Two Blobs

You might think these two blobs are just nests in the tree, but they were moving ... porcupines!

These two big guys were chowing down on tender bark from the pine tree.

Dec. 13 ~Does

Dianne and I saw three does, but I could only get two in my frame at a time.

They are fragile and elusive creatures.

The day after Dianne and I walked n Stoney Swamp together, she saw this magnificent buck!

December 10 ~ Marty ...

Marty loves the rocking chair, where he cuddles his Cabbage Patch doll,

wrapped with his blanket (his 'didi').

The rocking chair is the same one where I nursed John, 41 years ago,

the doll was treasured by Megan,

and Lee loved the blanket as a baby.

Ah, family treasures!

December 9 ~ Take a Bow!

An hour and a half later, the organist and the four soloists

take a well-earned bow and applause from the enthusiastic choir.

It was a magical, musical evening.

December 8 ~ The Conductor lifts his baton ...

The orchestra, and a choir of 700 voices, are ready to start The Messiah.

I am more than lucky to have a ticket to be a member of the choir!

December 7 ~ The Orchestra Warms Up

At Dominion Chalmers Church, on Friday, December 5,

the orchestra was warming up in preparation for the annual concert, Come Sing Messiah!

This morning, as I was having breakfast, I was looking at the kitchen counter,

wishing that Bob had put away his wine glass from last night.

Then I noticed the reflection and the sun:

 I added some grapes and the wine bottle and found a gorgeous still life!

December 3 ~ The Ottatwa General Hospital

Three weeks ago today, I was in the hospital looking out.

Today, I'm thankful to be going for a walk, looking at the hospital from the outside!

December 2 ~ A cold day!

I always love it when the puddles freeze over.

Mostly I like the look of the patterns, but I have to admit that I also love stomping on them!

November 28 ~ In the Oven...

  First, you decorate the cookies,

with lots of sugary goodness,

then you bake your Gingerbread Aliens!

Today, I ventured further, to a nearby Community Garden,

where there is always something photogenic.

This dead aster? conflicts with chairs, table and umbrella, awaiting the return of spring,

 and snow fence in the distance.

A walk around my block revealed a  single red maple leaf,

struggling to illuminate the dull November environment!

A Flower Shop in Provence, was painted from a photo that I took when we were there,

November 18 ~ Home Again

For the coming few weeks, my subject selection will be very limited -

whatever I can see from within the house - while I recover from surgery.

I hope you will not be bored, and I hope I can fond interesting subjects - a new challenge!

 

IN the back yard, my little Kokopelli dances in the wind and flashes in the sun,

and keeps me endlessly entertained, in all seasons.
